AUS Mechanical Engineering Projects

I am happy to announce the launch of the latest website I have been working on: www.ausmce.com. Well its not really a proper launch, its still underconstruction. I will be adding more stuff over the coming weeks. The site has information of some of the projects being done in the mechanical engineering department of my university. I have personally worked on two of these projects myself(See my last post).

Initially I started this on Drupal but I figured out that wordpress is more user friendly and better for smaller websites. It also has nicer themes.

What have I been up to

I haven’t blogged in months, I felt like paying more attention to more useful things. I have been working on a car for the FSAE competition. Now I am programming the ground station for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. After a lot of confusion of where I’m heading, I have no regrets that I decided to do mechanical engineering. And looking back at it, it has been a fun year at AUS, regardless of my constant complaints about how hot it is in Sharjah and how hard it is to get a driving license over here. Maybe I’ll blog a little bit more often, or maybe I wont.

New J2ME Software blog

I am working on this new blog where I am going to post about useful freeware J2ME applications and some other cell phone related information.

I had been planning to create a site with such content with ruby on rails, but using a wordpress blog instead, I would be able to focus more on the information I am going to provide rather than website design and maintainance. If I get enough hits, I’ll upgrade it to a proper site.

Please take a look at mobware and give me comments and suggestions.

Intelecasoft JumbleSolve

Some time back me and my brother Shuaib released our first freeware software which can descramble jumbled words, its available for download here. Although it was functional months back, it took us some time to pack and deploy it on our website.

Developed in Visual Basic 6 it used a database of words for quick descrambling. Shuaib did a very good job with the programs user interface, i devised a very nice method for quick descrambling which was taking a lot of time before and now does the work within a second. Download count today is 35.

TechPakistan updated

The traffic at TechPakistan has decreased at lot. A few days ago I updated the forum software at TechPakistan.com and installed a new feature where the users can upload files from there PCs and get them on there mobile phones thougth WAP. I hope that this would attract more users. We have planned to add something more to the site and make it more useful for the people. Although a lot of sites offer sending SMS Messages, it would be a nice idea if this could be put on our site and integrated with the forum user account. The previously used SMS bot could also be integrated in this system. We have some ideas but implementing this would take a lot of time, and being the only TechPakistan developer all of this would be up to me, but I cant find much time for this.
